How long does a shoot last?

A typical shoot lasts up to an hour. This is dependent on who is being photographed though as small children can loose interest fast, but don't worry  our photographers are used to working with all age groups and will work quickly with very young children to get the best from them before they decide they’ve had enough! An hour is plenty of time to get a really good variety of images and cater for all your needs including clothes changes, feeding and nappy changes.

What should we wear for a shoot?

Plan ahead! Colour co-ordinated clothes and outfits of similar styles work best. Avoid any one person wearing a very bright colour if everyone else is in neutrals. Avoid busy patterns and bold logos. You should dress according to the feel you want your pictures to have; i.e dress casually if you want your images to have an informal feel and dress up if you want a more traditional approach. Have a look at family portraits online for ideas on what to wear and the look you want to achieve. Most images will be displayed at home so think about how to complement this with your colour choices

Can we bring clothes changes?

One or two clothes changes are fine, but remember that time taken getting changed is included in your studio time. Busy days like Saturdays have much stricter restrictions on studio time so bear this is mind when considering clothes changes. We don’t recommend more than two changes for babies as they can become irritable when changed frequently in short periods.

I want my new baby photographed, what age should I bring them?

You can photograph babies at any time but newborns are best photographed up to 12 days old. This is before they start to uncurl, when you can get those very sweet, scrunched up, naked photos. It’s also before things like cradle cap and baby acne may start to form. They are best photographed asleep at this age. Newborn shoots are very stop/start due to feeding, crying, and nappy changes. Because of this, we book newborn shoots during weekdays so that we can give you more time rather than the usual hour.

Can we bring the family pet?

Pets are more than welcome here at the studio – they are family too after all! Make sure your photographer is aware that you will be including a pet. Some pets may only be photographed at certain times to allow for cleaning the studio for the next session.

Who can be photographed?

Anyone can be photographed here; single subjects or whole families, pets, children or just adults. We will always try to get a variety of shots for you so you can have some shots of the whole family, some with just the children, some individual studies etc. We can photograph upto 20 people in your photoshoot.

What do you charge for a session?

A typical session is £45 unless you have a voucher or have received a promotion. We take a £30 studio reservation deposit for all our shoots, but this is refunded back to you when you attend both your shoot and viewing session or is redeemable on any purchases and providing your appointments aren’t missed, cancelled or changed at the last minute.

I’ve booked an appointment but I need to change it. Can I?

We understand that it is sometimes necessary to change an appointment. All we ask is that we are given as much notice as possible with a minimum 24hour notice required for our standard shoots, any makeovers require 7 days notice, notice is required by phone call. If this not given the booking deposit will be lost.

What happens at my viewing appointment?

After your shoot we will arrange for you to come back to view your images, this is usually a week after your shoot. In this time we work our magic, making your images look fantastic with our professional editing skills. You will be given a product list at the end of your shoot which we advise you to familiarise yourself with, this aids your viewing appointment. We offer carefully selected quality products and hope you can find the product that best suits you, from our USB Presentation Boxes, Gallery quality Frames, Superior quality prints and more.

At your viewing your images will be shown large projected as a show set to music in the comfort of our private viewing room. This is a real event, one to get the family together for. It’s not uncommon for tears so we will have the tissues ready. We advise you to prepare by measuring up your walls for sizes and thinking about what colours or textured Frames would suit your interior as this will be your chance to view our products and make your selection. Also think about how many prints/images you want/need for family members as this will help us build a package for you.

Can we order images in black and white?

When editing, we will add creative effects to some of your images, including black and white. You can order your images in either black and white or colour and you can have effects removed if not to your taste or added to a different image if you wish.

Do we have to buy our photographs at the viewing?

Although many of our clients do choose to purchase pictures from their shoots, you are under no obligation. At the end of your shoot, we will supply you with a complete product menu to peruse at your leisure before you return to the studio. You can see all the different products and will be fully aware of all our prices before you come back to view. This often helps people decide what they might like from their shoot. Other clients prefer to make a final decision once they have seen their images and can see all the different products we have on display around our studio.

How can our photographs be displayed?

Typically, you can buy prints, frames, canvases, albums and discs of your images. (For more details on our product options visit our products page).

Can I print from a USB?

Our digital files come with copyright release and all images are high resolution, allowing you to print large sizes and unlimited usage. Digital files are brilliant if you have lots of family members who want copies of your images.

What methods of payment do you accept and when do we pay?

We accept all major credit and debit cards, excluding American Express. You can also pay by cheque or cash. You can pay for your order at your viewing or you can pay half when you order and half when your order is ready. Payment plans are available on any purchases of £300 or more – interest free! Ask a member of staff about this at your viewing, we just require a 25% deposit, a landline telephone number and a form of ID.

Who can come to our viewing?

If you have friends or family members that would like to come to the viewing with you, they are more that welcome regardless of whether or not they were in the photographs. We strongly recommend that young children are left with a sitter as the viewing room is dark and inappropriate for children. We also find that they get very bored and parents find it very difficult to concentrate on their images when this happens. If leaving the children with a sitter simply isn’t an option for you, we suggest you bring plenty of activities for them to keep them entertained whilst you choose your pictures.

How long will my order take?

We send our images to selected partners to be produced, these are selected for their superior quality therefore orders can take upto 4 - 6 weeks for completion. We will call you as soon as your order is ready for collection.

How long do you keep the images?

Although we can’t guarantee your unordered images after your initial viewing, we do keep all images on file for a minimum of three months.

Do you do our hair and make up?

Unless you have purchased an Emotion Studios Makeover shoot, you will need to arrive at the studio with your hair and make up as you intend to be photographed.

How many people can be in my photographs?

We have quite a big studio and can photograph about twenty people at any one time. If you would like more than 20 people photographed, just give us a call and we’ll see what we can do.

Is there parking?

We have a good sized car park – there’s plenty of room!

Do you have disabled access?

Unfortunately, our studio is on the first floor of the building and we don’t have a lift. We have accommodated shoots for people who haven’t been able to get up stairs though – we just make use of the beautiful countryside which surrounds us! This is obviously weather dependent, but it can be done!

How do we find you?

Our countryside location is beautiful to look at and work in, but people do get lost trying to find us. We send out a basic map with all our confirmation letters, but we also recommend using the Google map on the “contact us” page of our website to familiarise yourself with the route. Even if you’re using a sat nav, please do prepare yourself before hand. We are surrounded by fields and this can often make visitors think they’re lost, but if you follow our instructions and plan ahead, you shouldn’t have any problems. We are on an old Farm that has been converted into workshops. Following signs to “the fabric barn” and “upper aston farm and workshops” will all bring you to us.

How far away are you from me?

We are located half way between Wolverhampton and Bridgnorth. Travelling times are dependent on traffic but are roughly:

10 mins from Perton, Wombourne, Shifnal and Bridgnorth 20 mins from Dudley, Codsall, Tettenhall, Albrighton and Compton 20 mins from Wolverhampton 30 mins from Stourbridge, Walsall and Kidderminster 30 mins+ from Birmingham and Stafford

What happens if I’m late for my appointment?

If you are running late, please phone and let us know. In many instances, it shouldn’t be a problem. On very busy days such as Saturdays, it may reduce your time in the studio. In situations of extreme lateness we may need to reschedule your appointment.

Are you on a bus route?

Unfortunately, there aren’t any bus routes that travel past the studio. Typically you will need to travel by car to get to us.
